​How can Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) help us develop a stronger, more compassionate Healthy Adult?

 

This experiential training day explores how the principles and practices of CFT can be integrated with Schema Therapy to help clients develop a more compassionate way of relating to themselves. We will explore the similarities and differences between the Healthy Adult and the Compassionate Self, alongside the neuroscience and body-based processes that can make compassion difficult to access.

The day will have a strong clinical and experiential focus. We will explore the critic from both Schema Therapy and CFT perspectives, consider the flows and blocks to compassion through a schema and mode lens, and explore the developmental roots of difficulties with compassion.

 

Through guided exercises, compassionate imagery, working with multiple selves and clinical vignettes, participants will have opportunities to experience the practices for themselves and consider how they can be applied with their clients. The workshop is designed for therapists with an understanding of Schema Therapy who want to develop their skills in integrating CFT to strengthen the Healthy Adult and support lasting therapeutic change.
