Supervision

I specialise in working with individuals who have experienced attachment-based trauma and may have been diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder, ‘personality disorder’ and dissociative disorders. I am an ISST Certified Schema Therapy Supervisor and support clinicians in their journey to becoming certified schema therapists.

I have been offering individual and group supervision since 2014, both in the NHS and independent practice.

I bring warmth together with my wealth of knowledge in schema therapy, EMDR and CFT in my facilitation of individual and group supervision. I believe that supervision needs to be a safe space where uncertainty, therapeutic struggles and our own schema activation can be freely explored.

"Jo’s warm, strength-focused and non-shaming approach feels very containing. This means I’m

comfortable to bring emotional vulnerability and areas for skills development, as well as those

‘Aha!’ moments for shared celebration."

"The way Jo combines elements of EMDR and Schema Therapy is really insightful and what initially drew me to make contact. She’s very skilful and able to move between these and other models smoothly, and is obviously passionate about the work. I’ve found her particularly good at picking up on the relational dynamics in casework and working compassionately with these."

"Jo is a brilliant supervisor, both 1:1 and as facilitator of a group supervision space I attend. I value her containing presence, knowledge and extensive experience. I find her expertise in models such as EMDR and schema therapy particularly helpful."

"I cannot recommend Jo's supervisory skills enough. She is very astute as well as sensitive to her supervisee's needs. She offers a skilful balance of support & challenge when necessary. I feel that my practice has benefitted so much from her approach!"

"I have felt vulnerable and uncertain at times, and Jo has coached me through with compassion and genuine authentic understanding. This has been so important for me as a I do not feel judged and finally have a safe space for my supervision. I am also learning new skills from Jo in terms of strategies and skills to use with specific clients, alongside psychological and emotional support for myself. This is everything I need from a supervisor."

"I’ve had a fantastic experience of supervision with Jo. I’ve found the sessions really containing and validating and very quickly felt able to establish a rapport that felt safe enough to explore and reflect on the impact of my clinical work. Jo’s expertise and compassionate approach to supervision has certainly been a vital component in my own private practice."
